With ‘The Creative Shelf,’ Dubai Culture brings together artists and audiences in a cultural initiative that showcases local talent and fosters creative exchange. Hosted at the Safa Arts & Design Library, it invites visitors on an inspiring journey through Dubai’s evolving arts landscape. Taking place from 22 to 24 August, the schedule features immersive, hands-on classes across varied disciplines. Participants can discover the beauty of Arabic calligraphy, try digital drawing and character design, step into the world of voice acting, or craft personalised bookmarks. Other options include ‘The Magic of Origami,’ ‘Design Your Own Book,’ and ‘Resin Art.' In addition to the workshops, attendees can enjoy installations and activities designed to spark imagination and public engagement. Highlights range from a vibrant postcard wall and collaborative free drawing wall to a video games corner, a curated manga and comic book exhibition, and a playful photo booth—each providing an outlet for artistic expression. Over the three days, the library will host a series of talks and panel discussions led by acclaimed artists, writers, and cultural experts. The line-up includes ‘Corniche,’ a book discussion with Nasser Nasrallah; ‘Narrative Interactive Storytelling’ with Abdulrahman Al Obeidli; Byron Jeff Datinguinoo on ‘The Art of Building Worlds;’ and Ola Allouz presenting ‘The Value of the Art Book.’ Audiences can further join the ‘Ask the Publisher’ session with Ghaf Publishing and attend ‘Creativity as a Tool of Impact’ led by Khawla Mohammed Darwish. ‘The Creative Shelf’ invites everyone to immerse themselves in a celebration of creativity, knowledge, and community, a testament to Dubai’s thriving arts scene.
