Dubai Performing Arts Programme Empowers Rising Talent

detail image

Dubai Culture presents a dynamic season of training workshops, artistic performances, and public events through the Dubai Performing Arts Programme, an initiative that helps emerging talent in acting, theatrical directing, and storytelling find their voice and develop their craft. By nurturing young artists and strengthening the performing arts scene, this platform enriches Dubai’s creative landscape while promoting and preserving the city’s cultural identity for generations to come.

Organised in collaboration with the Dubai National Theatre, the programme brings together leading musicians, theatre professionals, and performing arts experts for a lively calendar of events, from comedic plays to poetry evenings. Highlights include the ‘Acting & Directing in Open Spaces – A Creative Outdoor Workshop’ led by actor and director Tamer Alarbid at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library. Participants delve into advanced performance techniques, script analysis, and the fundamentals of stage direction, including scene composition, movement coordination, and working with actors. The session also explores innovative approaches to using stage space, reflecting the demands of contemporary theatre.

The line-up also includes a comedy show for adults, offering a fresh take on the importance of Emirati values in today’s world. At the Zayed Education Complex in Al Warqa, ‘Melodies of the Nation’ features Emirati and Arab poets and artists performing patriotic poetry with live accompaniment. This evening blends traditional musical styles with original works from talented local creatives, celebrating the depth and diversity of Dubai’s creative community.

For younger audiences, ‘Tales from the Emirates’ brings local folktales to life through a mix of live acting, storytelling, puppetry, and classical songs. This unique production offers children an engaging way to connect with Emirati heritage, bridging the past and present on stage.
